Caress’ St. James

In 1989, Caress St. James moved to the Pacific Northwest from Dallas, Texas. She started making and meeting new friends in her new city. In 1990, she was invited to attend her first Spokane Coronation, which was indeed eye-opening and memorable. In 1991, she joined and became a general court member of the ISCS, and thus her involvement with the community began. The following year, she ran for her first official title, won, and was crowned Miss Debutante 17. Great fun and memories were made. After that, she became Imperial Crowned Princess 23 of the ISCS and continued to be active in the community, attending fundraising events and traveling to represent the ISCS.

In 1998, she was named by proclamation Empress Emeritus 11 of the ISCS, and finally, a dream came true. In 2001, she was crowned the very First African American Empress in the 52-year history of the Imperial Sovereign Court of Spokane and All Eastern Washington. She has now over 30 years of community service and advocacy for cultural diversity within the community and the Drag performing arts throughout the Pacific Northwest. In 2019, she was a recipient of the International Royal Order of the Golden Double Eagle from Queen Mother Nicole the Great. She has served as a Member of Her Majesty's International Court System Parliament. She served as President of Spokane’s College of Monarchs, President of Spokane’s Board of Directors, and is a mentor to many titleholders. So beloved, she is a Citizen for Life of Tacoma, WA, and in 2019 and 2020, she was invested and crowned Ultima Empress 25 & 26 of the Imperial Sovereign Court of the State of Montana.

Giving back has been so important because she believes you should leave the world a better place than you found it. This has meant for her volunteering, mentoring, and sharing awareness for the greater good of our special community. Continuing the noble deeds of the Imperial Sovereign Court of Spokane and All Eastern Washington, and a member of the International Imperial Court System.
